Down-town Lisbon, Portugal.

The previous heads of Parliament’s Liaison Office (EPLO) in Lisbon and of the Commission’s Representation in the Portuguese capital are both running in the European elections.

Paulo Sande, who was the chief of EPLO in Lisbon from 2004 to 2012, is the frontrunner in the new Aliança party which was founded by former Prime Minister Pedro Santana Lopes in 2018. The centre-right Alliance split from the PSD.

Margarida Marques, who headed the Commission’s representation in Lisbon from 2005 to 2011, is number four on the Partido Socialista list.
