"Our vision remains a set of pro-digital policies built first and foremost to support start-ups and SMEs, so that everybody has a fair shot at growth and success," said ECR MEP Anneleen Van Bossuyt.

Commenting immediately after the European Commission announced a series of fresh proposals to regulate internet platforms, ECR Group Flemish MEP Anneleen Van Bossuyt, chair of the European Parliament’s Internal Market Committee said:

“The Commission need to be careful that the Digital Single Market Agenda doesn’t morph from trying to help innovative tech firms into a rush to introduce an unnecessary and complex raft of legislation.

“Transparency and fairness are key principles for platform to business relations, yet requirements designed for tech giants but applied to every tech company in the EU are only going to entrench the position of the dominant players that parts of the EU want to hit.

“Our vision remains a set of pro-digital policies built first and foremost to support start-ups and SMEs, so that everybody has a fair shot at growth and success.”
