Ramona Gehring, a local councillor from DIE LINKE, was attacked by Neo-Nazis on Tuesday night.

The Left in the European Parliament strongly condemns an attack on the home of Ramona Gehring, a local councillor from DIE LINKE on Tuesday night.

A device exploded outside Gehring’s home in the city of Zittau, Saxony and although nobody was hurt, it comes just a day after a bomb threat was sent to the headquarters of DIE LINKE in Berlin by the far-right neo-Nazi group, Combat 18.

GUE/NGL hereby offers its full solidarity and support to Ramona Gehring and her family. GUE/NGL demands that authorities urgently investigate the reasons behind this attack and hold those responsible to account.

“Attacks of this nature have no place in our society. We must uphold our rights to democracy and the rule of law,” GUE/NGL declared in a press release.
