Political groups’ coordinators in the Internal Market and Industry committees requested that Sylvie Goulard’s hearing be resumed after they assessed the Commissioner-designate’s performance on 2 October.

MEPs will resume Sylvie Goulard’s hearing on Thursday at 9.30 to examine further her suitability for the College of Commissioners and for the assigned portfolio.

Political groups’ coordinators in the Internal Market and Industry committees requested that Ms Goulard’s hearing be resumed after they assessed the Commissioner-designate’s performance on 2 October and her written replies to their additional questions, received on 8 October.

The request was approved on Wednesday by Parliament’s Conference of Presidents (EP President and leaders of political groups).

The Commissioner-designate for Internal Market will, after her 10-minute introductory statement, have to reply to 13 questions plus follow-up questions. The hearing should allow MEPs to determine whether Ms Goulard is qualified to be a member of the team led by Ursula von der Leyen and to carry out the duties assigned to her.
