Polish antisemitic party supports Iran’s regime

Inside the usually pro-Kremlin Polish far-right, nowadays, a pro-Iran component is emerging that invests in the hypothesis that Iranian missiles could reach Poland. Grzegorz Braun, a known antisemite, leader of the right-wing extremist Confederation of the Polish Crown (KKP) and member of the European Parliament, decided to emphasise his geopolitical preferences by visiting the Embassy of Iran in Warsaw to present his condolences for the death of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, killed during the first day of the US-Israeli bombing of Tehran.

The visit caused the ire of US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose, who described Grzegorz Braun’s act as ‘disgusting’.

KKP considers that the US and Israel are “murdering civilians and leaders of sovereign states with bombs like cockroaches.”

Brawn believes Iran’s threats against European countries are real. And particularly that the Middle Eastern country has the capacity to send missiles against Poland.

“Poland within range of Iranian missiles – that this is a realistic assessment of Iran’s capabilities is evidenced by the fact of the 2020 deployment of the U.S. Army’s V Corps Forward Command Post to Poznań, rather than to Kraków as initially planned,” he posted on X on 14 March.

“The presence of foreign troops on Polish territory may therefore bring about very different consequences, far from those originally declared, e.g., in the form of “false flag” terror acts (who first: Italy, Ukraine or UK – ???), whose authorship will immediately be attributed to the Persians, in order to achieve, as part of another operation of strategic perception management of Poles, the effect of broader acceptance and deeper involvement in further wars not our own,” he added.

Although these views can be easily characterised as extremist and isolated, Brawn’s party has significant support, allowing him to win seats in the Polish parliament and the European Parliament. Currently, KKP has 3 MPs and one MEP.

According to a recent opinion poll conducted on 11-12 March, KKP is supported by 7,6% while its former partner, the far-right Confederation party, has 12,5%.

On 6 May 2025, the European Parliament lifted Brawn’s immunity, following a motion from the Polish Prosecutor General. He faced charges for violating bodily integrity and insulting a physician, along with three counts of hooliganism. Two additional charges involved inappropriate conduct in the Polish Sejm, including insulting a religious object and violating another individual’s bodily integrity. In January 2025, Braun was banned from the European Parliament for remarks during a gender debate and for disrupting International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
