Prime Minister Donald Tusk will meet his Hungarian counterpart, Prime Minister Péter Magyar, on 20 May 20 as part of Magyar’s official visit to Poland, according to an announcement made by government spokesman Adam Szłapka on Friday. During this visit, Prime Minister Magyar is also scheduled to meet with President Karol Nawrocki and possibly with Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś.
Following his initial government meeting, Magyar revealed on Wednesday that his itinerary includes visits to Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk next week. The meeting with Prime Minister Tusk will be particularly significant for bilateral cooperation.
During a recent address in the town of Opusztaszer, Magyar outlined his plans to begin his visit in Krakow and then travel to Warsaw by train. He noted, “A high-speed train, built with funds from ‘that evil Brussels,'” alluding to the previous government’s rhetoric under Viktor Orbán. He also invited former representatives of the previous administration to accompany him on this journey.
In Warsaw, Prime Minister Magyar intends to engage in “very important bilateral talks,” primarily with Prime Minister Tusk. Additionally, he is expected to meet with Lech Wałęsa, the esteemed former chairman of the Solidarity trade union movement and a former President of Poland, during his time in Gdańsk.
