Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domański expressed that the current morning is not promising for either consumers or businesses. On Wednesday, United States President Donald Trump announced the implementation of “reciprocal tariffs” on imported goods, establishing a tariff rate of 20% for goods originating from the European Union. Domański posted on the X platform that, although this is not an optimistic situation, Poland and Europe will emerge from this circumstance with greater resilience.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk also addressed the imposition of American tariffs, stating on the X platform, “Friendship signifies partnership. Partnership necessitates genuine and equitable mutual tariffs. Appropriate decisions are imperative.”
Trump’s order mandates a minimum 10% tariff on all imported goods, with a specific rate of 20% applied to imports from the European Union. Subsequently, leaders from various nations reacted to the announcement, including Australia, Japan, China, Great Britain, and Italy. Furthermore, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, indicated that she would formulate a response regarding the enforcement of these American tariffs.
