Finnish Minister Ville Tavio to Morocco for trade talks

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Ville Tavio, is scheduled to visit Morocco with a business delegation from 28 to 30 April 2025. During this visit, Minister Tavio will meet with several officials in Rabat. The Finnish Minister will meet with the Ministers of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali and Economy and Finance, Faouzi Lekjaa.

The discussions will centre on enhancing bilateral trade and economic relations between Finland and Morocco. Following the engagements in Rabat, Minister Tavio and the Finnish business representatives will proceed to Casablanca.

The agenda for the Minister’s visit encompasses export promotion initiatives, including the Finland–Morocco Business Forum, which is being organised in collaboration with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). Furthermore, Minister Tavio will visit Tangier, which hosts the largest container port along Africa’s Atlantic Coast, where several prominent Finnish port and logistics companies are operational.

“Morocco presents a compelling market for Finnish enterprises and is a strategic gateway to Africa,” Minister Tavio remarked. “As the country prepares to co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030 alongside Spain and Portugal, it is undertaking numerous infrastructure projects for which Finnish businesses can offer exemplary solutions.”

Business Finland has coordinated the delegation accompanying Minister Tavio and comprises representatives from the following companies: AMG Technologies, Confoot, Ecosir Group, Kalmar, Metso, Nokia, Vaisala, Wirepas, and Wärtsilä.
