The European Parliament has received a motion to waive the immunity of PiS (Law and Justice) MEP Mariusz Kamiński, as announced by EP President Roberta Metsola on Monday.

Metsola stated that the Polish authorities requested the waiver of Kamiński’s immunity and that the matter has been referred to the Legal Affairs Committee (JURI). This process typically takes several months, leading to a final vote by the full Parliament.

On 31 March, Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek requested this waiver regarding Kamiński’s actions as head of the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) from 2007 to 2009. The investigation focuses on allegations that he abused his authority by initiating operations without proper justification and is part of the “villas in Kazimierz” case.

This is the second request concerning Kamiński. In April 2025, the European Parliament waived the immunity of both Kamiński and his former deputy, Maciej Wąsik, following a court ruling imposing a five-year ban on holding public office and a two-year prison sentence on both.

The Parliament will also vote on Tuesday regarding the immunity of Daniel Obajtek, Patryk Jaki, Grzegorz Braun, and Tomasz Buczek.
