The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, visited the Czech Republic on 28 August 2023. With Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský he discussed the continuing all-round Czech support to Ukraine and the preparation of the “Forum for Ukraine” and the parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform in October 2023 in the Czech Republic. Dmytro Kuleba also addressed the Czech ambassadors at the Czernin Palace as part of their annual meeting.
Foreign Minister Lipavský stressed to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy that the Czech Republic will continue to support Ukraine in every way because it is not only in our security interest, but also in the interest of the entire European continent. “Our support will continue until Ukraine wins. A peaceful solution can only be reached with Ukraine’s participation and according to its rules. It is not possible to exchange peace for any part of Ukraine’s rightful territory,” Lipavský said.
The two ministers also discussed Ukraine’s efforts to start pre-accession negotiations with the EU later this year. “Our only defence against Russian imperialism is active support for Ukraine and support for its accession to NATO and the EU,” said minister Lipavský.
At the same time, Foreign Minister Lipavsky thanked the Ukraine’s army and society for the security shield i tis providing to the Czech Republic through their brave resistance against the Russian aggressors.
During the meeting, the ministers also mentioned important events that will take place in the autumn. The 2nd Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, which is being prepared by the Czech Parliament together with the Ukrainian Parliament, will take place in Prague on 24 October. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry is supporting a major international conference, Forum for Ukraine, which will be held in Prague in October as part of Forum 2000.
In his speech to the Czech ambassadors, Minister Kuleba presented the current Ukrainian diplomatic efforts aimed at a peaceful end to the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Its basis is President Zelensky‘s 10-point peace plan, which the Czech Republic fully supports.
