State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, received the First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Jang Yong-jin in Bratislava on 21 April 2023.

“For over 30 years, our relations have made significant progress in trade, economic and cultural areas, as well as in political dialogue,” said Ingrid Brocková.

“South Korea is our natural partner and Asia’s largest investor. It is not just Kia or Samsung plants, there are over 100 other Korean companies operating in Slovakia, contributing to our economic growth. I confirm the Slovak government’s interest in further deepening this cooperation, our goal is to attract investments with higher added value,” continued Brocková adding that “Slovakia offers investment opportunities in the production of batteries for electric vehicles, semiconductors, robotics and artificial intelligence.”

Also in this context, she expressed her appreciation for the planned visit by the trade mission of Korean companies, which will take place at the end of May and beginning of June.

The State Secretary praised the Republic of Korea’s principled stance on the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its assistance to the invaded country. At the same time, she condemned the continued testing of ballistic missiles by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which threatened peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and throughout East Asia.
