On November 29, 2023, the Lviv City Council within the European Union financial support in Ukraine launched a social housing construction project. The construction of the first of eight houses for wounded IDPs undergoing rehabilitation was laid. The European Commission has allocated 20 million euros in grant funds for the construction of housing.

On the same day, the EU Delegation to Ukraine team visited the city – Chloe Allio, Andriy Bandura, and Stanislav Toshkov. They visited the construction site, spoke with representatives of the general contractor, and project managers for “Construction of residential buildings for the accommodation of military personnel in Lviv”.

“We are glad to see ongoing works of this project which will meet most urgent accommodation needs for wounded Ukrainian people undergoing rehabilitation. We are looking forward to continuing our good cooperation with the municipal team through this contribution from the European Union to the Unbroken ecosystem”, commented Chloé Allio, Head of Operations Section “Economic Cooperation, Energy, Infrastructure and Environment” of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

Having obtained all the planning permissions to start construction, the city immediately commenced the work. At the beginning of November, the LLC “Construction Company Progressbud” was chosen as the general contractor responsible for the construction of the social housing.

“The first building is expected to be completed by May 2024. We maintain constant communication with our European colleagues to ensure that all standards and rules set by our partners are met. We emphasize that these buildings will be fully inclusive so that people with limited mobility can comfortably reside and undergo rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN center, located right next to the construction site,” noted Yuriy Telipskiy, Director of the State-Owned Enterprise “Lviv Inter-Municipal Bureau of Technical Inventory.

The EU Delegation team also met with the mayor of the city and the municipal team overseeing the project in Lviv. They discussed matters concerning the project’s development and collaboration.
